Photographic projects with an impact

Art makes life more interesting, more beautiful, better. Be it a poem, a performance, a photo.
But there's more to it.

Starting from a specific external need, i.e. from an intended interaction with the public, is stimulating. Focussing on the artistic process as a means, and not on the artistic product as the end. To have an impact, not only with the photos, but with the whole process.

Some Examples

Some of the projects from the past - hoping to do the same with and for you in the future:

Amana Dance Theatre, belly dance company, wants for its students, teachers and public to be confronted with a broader artistic view on dance, body, emotion, so as to counteract kitsch. Twice a year I produce a small exhibition for its foyer at a2o. Sometimes I get carte blanche, sometimes we define a specific project together. In Dance the World, we presented dances from around the world in their bodily essence, i.e. in the nude. In I am a Veil, students and teachers of the company try out different meanings and uses of the veil.

The town of Antwerp, district Deurne, wanted to break down barriers between different social-cultural institutions, to stimulate cooperation and invite the public to visit the other places. A double project was devised. On one hand we photographed the public in all 7 places, made a happening of the shoots, and produced 7 mini-exhibitions which toured for 7 months the 7 places: The Way I am. On the other hand we made Nude-portraits in the same settings, and showed them at selected locations, so stimulating a new way of looking at the same old places: The Way I am - Nude.
